SSE LONDON MAJOR PEEWEE 1 TEAM – BELL CAPITAL CUP TOURNAMENT
The SSE London Wild, Major Peewee 1 team traveled to Ottawa for the Bell Capital Cup Tournament Dec 28-30. The worlds largest minor hockey tournament (510 teams competing) included 33 teams in the Major Peewee A division. The SSE London Wild team got off to a slow start in a 5-2 loss to the Houston Wild. The following game saw an improved effort with a 3-2 loss to the Berkshire Bruins. In their final game of the tournament the Wild gave it their all in a 5-3 win against the Kanata Blazers. An evening trip to the Senators/Rangers game at Scotiabank Place included a competition during the second intermission where Dallas Drouin, Andrew Gray and Chris Carreiro did a great job representing the SSE Wild in front of a sell out crowd of 20,000 fans. Despite being eliminated after round robin play, the Wild definitely showed up for the Capital Cup Skills Competition winning 3 of 7 events in a field of 16 teams. The relay race was a see-saw battle from start to finish but with a strong effort the Wild finished first in both their races. The winning team included Matt Squires, JJ Philips, David Panchyshyn, Chelsea Smith and Kyle Lavigne. The Wild were also successful (on offence and defence) in the breakaway relay competition; Chris Carreiro and JD Hart combined to score on 5 of 6 shots while Steven Buckrell was top goalie stopping 11 of 12 shots. Keep it going Wild!! Your coaching staff and parents are proud of all of you.

A Big Congrats!!!!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. I would like to make aware to all the award presented to a board member and coach of the SSE Wild Hockey Organization. With all the negatives surrounding minor hockey it sure is nice to see someone within our organization succeed on a positive note. Chris Robbins has received "Community Coach of the Year " presented by Hockey Canada , Timex and Wal-Mart This is what the award says, "We are pleased to present you with this award for your efforts in support of Community Hockey. The dedication of individuals such as your self allows many young people in Canada to experience what is unquestionably our national passion..." I have personally known Chris for several years and he definitely has his heart and sole behind the organization and the young players he has developed over the years. The award just solidifies this. Way to go Chris!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Marco DiLoreto SSELHA Wild
SSE London Major Novice 2 team Champions in the Port Colbourne “Golden Puck Tournament”
The SSE London Major Novice 2 team were Champions in the Port Colbourne “Golden Puck Tournament” held November 25-26. Nicknamed “The Little Team That Could!” they headed off to Port Colbourne with only 10 skaters and their 2 goalies. They won their first game against Dunnville 6-0 and lost their second game in a close match against Caledon. The results of those 2 games placed them in 2nd for the elimination round. They played the Dunnville team again and this time squeaked out a 1-0 win to go on to the semi-finals. In the semi finals they managed to beat Caledon this time 2-1 in another close game. The final game saw them up against the undefeated team from Paris Ontario. The Wild came out strong and took an early 3-0 lead in the 1st period catching Paris by surprise. Paris fought back in the 2nd period and it was 4-3 heading into the 3rd. The 3rd period had no goals as the Wild held on and came out victorious! There was outstanding goaltending, a fantastic defense and an awesome effort by all the forwards ….it was an all around great team effort. Way to go SSE Wild!
